![]() Bonneville Salt Flats Special Recreation Management Area (SRMA) The Bonneville Salt Flats are one of Earth's most unique landforms. With the unusual layout to find a place for the pits, timing van, return road, concerns about accessing the salt, unsettled weather and the damage that could be caused to the salt when it is in this condition the USFRA as elected to cancel World of Speed. The forecast also calls for wind that could move the water around and onto course #1. ![]() The long range weather forecast is for rain on September 1st and 8th. There is still some puddling of water at the end of the access road and the salt is very soft, giving the USFRA concerns of trucks and trailers becoming stuck when entering the salt flats. There was water running along the mountain side of the #1 course almost to the five mile. It was smooth and hard in most areas but there were also some soft spots. ![]() The 2023 World of Speed has been Canceled A Message from USFRA President, Dennis Sullivan After myself and two of the most knowledgeable people on salt conditions assessed the probability of having a successful World of Speed, it was determined that the USFRA would have to cancel the event.
